Description
École Sainte-Anne is part of the Francophone community centre in Fredericton, the provincial capital, a multicultural city in constant growth with a population of about 58,000. Overlooking the beautiful Saint John River, the school is located on a 47-acre campus shared with the University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University. A well-known tourist destination, Fredericton offers theatre, music, art galleries, and museums, along with more than 85 km of walking, cycling, and cross-country ski trails connected to the downtown core. Downhill skiing is just 40 minutes away at Crabbe Mountain.
The school is integrated into the region’s Francophone community centre, which hosts a variety of organizations and services. Students have access to the public library, which holds over 40,000 French-language items including books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines. The youth centre, l’acAdo, offers a variety of engaging activities that support students’ social development, physical well-being, and pride in Acadian culture. The centre also includes a café, a community radio station, a health centre, and an impressive program of national, provincial, and regional Francophone artists, as well as film screenings in the auditorium.
École Sainte-Anne is defined by its students, who are actively engaged in both their learning journey and the wider community. Students are involved in the school’s decision-making process, and the school administration supports student-led projects created by and for students. École Sainte-Anne is the second French-language school in the province to become an International Baccalaureate World School. The school also offers a Fine Arts Certificate.
