Description
Clément-Cormier was the first high school to be recognized as an entrepreneurial community school by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It is located in Bouctouche, a vibrant town of 2,500 residents on the Acadian coast of the Northumberland Strait, about 30 minutes from Moncton. The people here are friendly and full of laughter. It is the birthplace of internationally renowned Acadian author Antonine Maillet, whose fictional characters come to life at Le Pays de la Sagouine, a recreated Acadian village that celebrates music, folklore, and culture.
The J.K. Irving Multicultural Centre hosts many sporting events, conferences, and performances, while the nearby Bouctouche Dune offers an interpretation centre, walking trails, and a boardwalk where nature lovers can admire and learn to protect the 12-kilometre-long sand dune and its fragile ecosystem.
The student council is active and organizes numerous events, and school spirit is strong when it comes to supporting the boys’ and girls’ sports teams, Les Cavaliers, who compete at regional and provincial levels.
The school has recently undergone major renovations and is equipped with modern technology, including SMART boards in nearly every classroom. In partnership with several local businesses and organizations, students receive the guidance and tools needed to discover their passions and reach their full potential by launching, creating, and managing micro-enterprises and projects that benefit the community.
The school promotes personal engagement with Acadian and Francophone culture.
