Description
École secondaire Népisiguit, the second largest Francophone high school in New Brunswick, is named after the river that flows through the city of Bathurst into the Bay of Chaleur. With over 60% of the region’s 40,000 residents able to speak both official languages, bilingualism is one of the area’s most valuable assets.
The Bay of Chaleur is one of the most beautiful bays in Eastern Canada, offering numerous hiking trails, both freshwater and saltwater for canoeing and kayaking, breathtaking views, sandy beaches, and fresh seafood. The region also features many arenas, sports fields, and cultural and artistic venues.
The school’s sports teams are known as Les Rebelles, and as members of the interscholastic sports association, they have won several championships over the years.
Students who wish to get involved in school or community life can choose from more than 30 committees and groups, including improv, yearbook, music, dance, and many more.
They are also encouraged and supported in developing their entrepreneurial spirit through projects that integrate learning outcomes while meeting a need at school or in the community.
The school’s mission is for everyone to work together to educate each student and guide them toward success, to maintain positive relationships, and to keep them engaged in developing their French language and culture in an ever-changing society.
