École Aux quatre vents is a very warm and friendly high school located in the small town of Dalhousie, New Brunswick. At the heart of the picturesque Appalachian Mountain range and bordering on the Baie des Chaleurs, renowned as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, Dalhousie is the northernmost town in the province. Its 4 000 residents tend to embrace winter and many of the sports activities the season offers; the Sugarloaf Ski Resort is nearby, and it is also fair to say that the town is crazy about hockey. There are many, walking, hiking and cycling trails, and the area is also known for its world-class salmon fishing.
As a community school, students here are encouraged to be actively involved in all aspects of school life. A part time Community Development Officer coordinates and organizes many curricular and extracurricular projects, activities and events. The highly developed sports program offers many different individual and team sports for boys and girls, either at the school or in partnership with community facilities. They’ve won many provincial - soccer, volleyball, improvisation & hockey championships.
In addition to the traditional courses, a wide variety of optional courses are offered, such as Drama, Music, Arts, Cooking, Carpentry, etc. Also, because the class sizes are relatively small, the teaching style is very interactive and personalized.
The school’s slogan, À l’image de tous les jeunes, strives for the inclusion of all students by creating a hands-on learning environment where the needs of each individual are addressed to ensure a successful and unlimited educational experience for all.
